Mahlatse Modipane, PhD Psychology Student from South Africa, Spends One Year with CBHT

Mahlatse Modipane is a PhD Psychology student in the school of Health Sciences at the University of Venda, South Africa. Ms. Modipane was a visiting scholar at UVA from February to December 2016. While at UVA, she was involved in various research ehealth projects including an internet intervention promoting positive health behavior change, i.e. quitting drug use. Ms. Modipane published her first research paper as the first author on ‘Technology use among patients in a non-urban Southern US HIV clinic in 2015’ during her time at UVA. Her PhD study seeks to understand reasons for loss to follow up in HIV care among patients living with HIV in rural areas of Limpopo Province in South Africa with the aim of developing intervention strategies that may help HIV positive patients remain in care and facilitate ART adherence.
